The Forge, originally established in 1994, produces hand forged functional and decorative wrought iron, using traditional blacksmithing techniques. Each project is exclusively crafted and manufactured to the customer’s requirements in the workshop in Cape Town. The Forge undertakes both commercial and private projects.

The studio has a fully equipped workshop and open courtyard that can handle large projects efficiently. The workspace is an eclectic mix of inspirational items that Nicolas has accumulated and pieces in various stages of development as part of the creative process. The workshop still forms the backbone of The Forge, producing customized high-end ironmongery for restoration projects, architectural and decorative applications for the local and international market.
Items include Architectural hardware such as Balustrades, railings and staircases, security gates, burglar bars and doors, pergolas, fireplaces and chandeliers.

Also onsite is a showroom that showcases the talents of Nicolas Lehmann as an artist through the unique sculptural pieces on offer. Commissions are undertaken from monumental sculptural pieces to a bespoke feature piece enhancing an architectural space or landscaping project.
